Postdoctoral positions available:
We seek highly motivated postdoctoral researchers to join our research group (SSCEM Lab) at the Department of Chemistry, IIT Jammu.
If you have a strong background in solid-state chemistry, materials science, electrochemistry, or energy storage systems and are passionate about advancing research in inorganic materials and battery technologies, we encourage you to apply.
Eligible candidates are expected to secure national postdoctoral fellowships such as:
SERB National Postdoctoral Fellowship (N-PDF)
WISE Fellowship for Women
Other relevant INSPIRE, DST, DBT, UGC - supported fellowships
PhD positions available:
We are inviting applications for two Ph.D. positions in the area of next-generation high-energy-density cathode materials at the Department of Chemistry, IIT Jammu. Both positions are focused on experimental research involving materials synthesis, characterization, and electrochemical evaluation for battery technologies.
Position 1 – Lithium-Ion Battery (LIB) Cathodes
The selected candidate will focus on the synthesis of novel cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries using hydrothermal, solvothermal, and mechanochemical methods. The project includes comprehensive structural and electrochemical characterization, including operando measurements at international synchrotron facilities (e.g., PLS-II, South Korea).
Desirable qualifications: Prior experience in materials synthesis, advanced characterization techniques (XRD, SEM, TEM), and electrochemical testing (CV, EIS, Electro Chemical Cycling etc.) will be considered an asset.
Position 2 – Lithium-Sulfur (Li–S) Battery Materials
The selected candidate will work on the design and synthesis of advanced Li–S battery materials employing similar wet chemical and mechanochemical synthesis strategies. Emphasis will be placed on rational material design, operando studies, and electrochemical performance optimization.
Desirable qualifications: Experience with sulfur host materials, composite cathode development, and electrochemical characterization is highly preferred.
Fellowship:
Position 1: Institute Research student/candidate (full-time).
Position 2: Candidates with GATE, CSIR-NET, GPAT, SERB, DST, PMRF, Visveswaraya scheme, or PMRF qualifications will be given strong preference.
We intend to nominate exceptional candidates for the Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF) in the current cycle.
